What a great year 2021 has been for New Hampshire Latino News (NHLN) Opinion+, we spoke to new guests and welcomed back old friends. As 2021 comes to an end we are thankful that this year was filled with new moments that uplifted us and our community. We’d like to personally thank our reporters for all the work they do behind the scenes that never goes unnoticed. Here at NHLN, we appreciate our audience for your unwavering support of this up-and-coming news outlet and your commitment to being better every day.
We’d like to thank guests like Executive Director Tim Horgan of the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire and Dr. Susan Huard, Chancellor of the Community College System of New Hampshire, for being on NHLN Opinion+. We look forward to having them all next year and hearing any updates from their respective organizations.
Opinion+ is a great way to let the community of New Hampshire know more about the organizations and the resources they provide that help their residents. We appreciate all the community leaders for their transparency in every interview when speaking of their respective organizations, current events and even answering questions the community members of New Hampshire may have.
We would like to highlight three organizations whose interviews made a true impact in the community of New Hampshire.
Back in October, we spoke with Director of New Hampshire Police Standards and Training John V. Scippa. We learned that the mission of the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council is to shape, sustain and strengthen the competency and professionalism of New Hampshire law enforcement in service to the State. The LEACT commission (Law Enforcement Accountability, Community and Transparency Commission) does so by adopting and enforcing reasonable, professional standards in a manner consistent with the law. They are considerate of the public trust and are committed to the fundamental values and the highest ethical standards. This past year we spoke with Luisa Piette, Community Activist and Corporate Communications Executive of LHP Communications about the water contamination that is happening in Londonderry, New Hampshire. We learned about Luisa’s upbringing, why she went into politics and how she uses the law to advocate for equality. Back in August, we invited Mark Doyle, Director of Emergency Services and Communication in New Hampshire to speak with us. Doyle helped us understand the emergency services that New Hampshire offers its residents and the impact that those services have had in the community. With the unexpected events of 2020, Doyle mentioned how his agency has received an increase in calls regarding overdoses since the beginning of the pandemic.
