NHLN Opinion+: Ken Norton

Welcome to this week’s episode of NHLN Opinion+, our weekly program that is dedicated to discussing the concerns and opinions of New Hampshire’s Latino community!

We spoke with Ken Norton, Executive Director of National Alliance on Mental Illness New Hampshire about Mental Health Awareness Month and the importance of support, education and advocacy.

Norton explains the importance of normalizing conversations about mental illness in today’s society. He also shared available resources and how to get involved in the community.

Among the many successes of the organization includes achieving a change in the National Suicide Prevention Hotline phone number. The number will be changed from 800-273-8255 to 988 next year to make it more accessible and a more similar process to placing 911 calls. Norton and his team at NAMI NH participated in the advocacy and awareness for bringing this change to light.
