Description of the video:
This week we spoke with Director of Housing Action NH, Elissa Margolin, on the Coalition’s ongoing policy work, the incoming 2021 relief package for rental assistance, and COVID-19’s impacts on the state’s homeless population.
Director Margolin also spoke about the racial disparity within the state’s homeless population and how the homeless service community continually aims to address it. The NH Coalition to End Homelessness reported that in 2020, Multi-Racial and Black/African Americans in the state are four times more likely to experience homelessness, while Hispanics and Latinos makeup only 2.7 percent of NH’s general population but represent 10.6 percent of the homeless population.
